Michael Hess is currently a Member of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. He leads the firm’s Specialty Pharmacy & Pharmaceuticals Practice Group and sits on its Executive Committee. He is outside general counsel to many of the nation’s largest independent specialty, infusion, and mail-order pharmacies. He also represents pharmacy benefit managers, distributors, GPOs, and pharma services companies.
Before private practice, Mike was Chief Counsel and Vice President of Strategic Development at Accredo Health Group and Assistant General Counsel at Medco Health Solutions. For three decades he has advised private equity investors, manufacturers, and pharmacies on transactions, contracting, and regulatory strategy across the drug distribution channel. He has taken part in many of the defining pharmacy, GPO and pharma service transactions of recent years and Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America have recognized him for his healthcare work year after year.
Mike also serves on the Board of Directors of BioCareSD and is President of the Chickasaw Council of Scouting America.
Mike holds a JD from the University of Mississippi School of Law, an MA from Mississippi State University, and a BA from Mississippi College.
